Voices of Argyll enjoyed an unforgettable musical collaboration with Scottish folk-pop band Beluga Lagoon, performing together at some of Scotland’s best-loved venues.
Led by Scottish musician and wildlife filmmaker Andrew O'Donnell, Beluga Lagoon has become known for its atmospheric folk-pop sound inspired by Scotland’s landscapes and natural beauty. The band has received widespread acclaim for its powerful live performances, amassing more than 20 million Spotify streams and building a loyal following across the country. Their headline performances at Glasgow’s famous Barrowland Ballroom sold out within minutes, while actor Martin Compston described one of the band’s performances as “utterly joyful.”

Working closely with the band, choir director Alison McNeill and music producer GMan created special choral arrangements that allowed the choir to perform alongside the band in spectacular live shows.
The collaboration saw the choir perform to a capacity audience at O2 Academy Glasgow before returning home for a sell-out concert at Queen's Hall Dunoon.

Together they performed fan favourites including Kilfraggen and Still, with the choir adding rich harmonies and dramatic atmosphere to the band’s cinematic sound. Andrew O'Donnell later reunited with the choir for their much-loved Carols by Candlelight concerts in Dunoon and at Kilmodan Church.

Kilmodan Church is one of Argyll’s most historically significant churches, dating back to the 17th century and closely associated with the Clan Campbells of Glendaruel. The churchyard is particularly famous for its remarkable collection of medieval carved grave slabs and ancient stones, many featuring intricate Highland carvings, swords and Celtic designs that reflect centuries of local history and craftsmanship. Set amongst the peaceful landscape of Glendaruel, the church provided a beautiful and atmospheric setting for the choir’s candlelit performances.

The choir also expressed heartfelt thanks to Scottish Opera for generously supporting the performances with costumes, helping create a striking visual impact on stage.
Choir member Sabrina described the experience as transformative. “It was such an amazing experience to be part of,” she said. “Performing on stages like the O2 Academy alongside Beluga Lagoon was something I never imagined I’d do. The atmosphere, the audience and the music were just incredible.” She added, “As a single mum, life can be really busy and challenging, so being part of the choir has given me confidence, friendship and opportunities I never expected. These performances created memories that will stay with me forever.”

“This was a wonderful experience for Voices of Argyll. We were immersed in the Beluga Lagoon world and it was exciting and exhilarating.” Juliet
